This packet is from some research I did when frack sand mining first
reared its ugly head as a possibility for our county. While much less
sophisticated and narrower than your study, it is interesting to note
that you came up with some of the same phrases to describe what you
found. I mention in the “regulatory themes” document that I found it
eerie that my research and the investigative journalism into the West,
TX fertilizer plant came up with some of the same descriptors, too (last
two doc’s). And, you can throw the West Virginia water pollution event
regulation descriptions into that hat, too.
It seems that regulatory problems are not industry specific, but are
similar across industries. Has anyone done a meta study about this that
you know of? It would be an interesting indictment of our regulatory
system.
